“If you give God the opportunity to prove Himself, He will always do it. The more you let him astonish you, the better you will know Him, the deeper you will trust Him, and the more you will open the door of faith to risk—because you know you can trust Him.“
Hi, I’m Rachel Miller, author, speaker, and coach inspiring Christians to live with courageous faith. But where do you get the credentials for that?
A Life of Ministry
I grew up in a ministry setting, but the day I boarded a plane to Moscow, Russia at age 19, my walk of faith began in earnest. I remember that day as if it were yesterday: the uncertainty, the excitement, the nerves. And I remember the confidence that came from Ephesians 5 as I sat on that plane and the Holy Spirit whispered, “Walk with me as a dear child, trust me as your Father, and all will be well.” And so it was, for 10 amazing years, through ups and downs, tragedies and triumphs—God was ever faithful and taught me many keys to walking in courageous faith.
Forbid Them Not
When the doors to Russia—for me—had closed. I was devastated. But as He always does, God had another door waiting for me to walk through. In the summer of 2009, after much prayer and seeking counsel, I launched a new ministry. Forbid Them Not Ministries would seek to help start, strengthen, and maintain ministries to the Fatherless. I had a big vision, no money, and an ounce of faith in an unfailing God. Before I knew it, FTN was helping a ministry in Africa and opening a local work among single moms.
The journey has been long and at times slow, but we have seen God (among other things):
- Clothe orphans
- Provide School Supplies for local kids
- Open doors of discipleship
- Comfort Mourning Hearts
- Increase awareness and nudge others to action
- And Magnify Himself to the world around us.
Writing
I started writing at a young age, but in my mid-teens, God used a series of events to show me that writing could be a tool to encourage others in their walk with Him and to share the lessons He was teaching me. While in Russia, I mostly set writing aside, but when my cousin passed away unexpectedly at the age of 32, I knew it was time to start publishing the books God had put in my heart.
Since then, I have published 8 books with more to come. Each of these books calls on the experience of decades of ministry and is written with the intent of drawing you, the reader, into a closer relationship with God, challenging and fortifying your faith, and inspiring you to pursue the calling and needs God has set before you.
Speaking
Shortly after attending college, God began to open the door to speak at and host various one and two-day women’s retreats and conferences. I quickly learned that this was an area that not only brought me great joy but that impacted others. It is my desire that through each conference or retreat those present will be
- Drawn into deeper communion with Christ,
- Learn to walk in the confidence of Who He is,
- Nurture the compassion He gives us,
- Solidify the commitments He calls us to,
- And fortify the courage that comes from Him as they pursue His calling on their lives.
Coaching
I have been mentoring and discipling individuals and groups for nearly 30 years. Coaching comes as a natural extension of this. I’m excited to dive deep into the core characteristics of Courageous Faith with you as you pursue the calling God has on your life.
Getting Personal
I’m just your average gal who’s has seen God work in mighty ways. Who loves to see others awed by His power and overwhelmed by the joy of His love and transformation in their lives. When I’m not involved in ministry or writing, you’ll most likely find me in my lavender garden, adventuring in my home state of Montana, or enjoying a cup of tea.
